Top Ten Tuesday - Bookish things I (want to) quit

Top Ten Tuesday! - Top ten bookish things I (want to) quit

Hey all!
Welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday, brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish! Top Ten Tuesday (aka TTT) is a weekly blogger meme where you write lists of your top ten (insert topic here)!

This week’s theme is the top 10 bookish things I (want to) quit! Meaning top 10 authors I’ve stopped reading, top ten bad bookish habits I need to quit, top ten DNFs... the choice is yours :) Since I feel like it’ll be hard to stay within one category, I’m going to just stick to a general mix of topics :)

So let’s get the TTT started!

1. Cracking the spines of paperbacks
Thankfully, I quit that! But now so many of my paperbacks have reading battle scars *cough* Harry Potter *cough*. I’m so much more careful now its crazy!

2. folding in corners when I don’t have a bookmark
I quit that too! :D *fireworks* I have so many books that have little lines in the corner of them now. Now, I’ll basically use anything as a bookmark, just to prevent that from happening!

3. Trying to read in German
Also quit that. I studied German for 7 years, and I was sure I’d be able to read full YA novels in the language... yeah that didn’t work XD

4. Putting off writing those letters to my favorite authors
I REALLY have to get to those! I finished two out of 10... I’m planning to write to John Green, Rick Riordan, Suzanne Collins, Maria Dhavana Headley, Sarah J. Maas, J.K. Rowling, Julie Bertagna, Mary Hoffman, Kristen Cashore, and Cassandra Clare...

5. Putting off sending the finished letters
Yeah I really have to send the two I finished! XD

6. Reading about the main character being perfectly perfect
This is a trope I would love to stop reading about. Everyone has flaws, and quirks.

7. Reading about girls and guys who can’t be just friends
I saw this one on another blog, and I never realized how big of a trope this is! Like the only ones I can really think of is Harry and Hermione! o_o Others sometimes have ‘light friendship’, like they wouldn’t be friends if they didn’t have to be.

8. Not reading classics
I have so many classics on my TBR, but I just can’t get myself to read them... namely 1984...

9. Keeping books that I did not like, in case I’ll change my mind and like it in the future
Yeah I really have to get rid of them. I’ll probably never read them again, and they’re just there on my self looking pretty and/or collecting dust... Who knows, I might do a giveaway, or sell them on Amazon.

10. Not going to places like Bookoutlet...
I have a bad habit of always checking out what’s new in a super expensive bookstore here in town, and getting the book for twice the Amazon price, or like 8 times the bookoutlet price. But it’s like I see the book, and I can’t not have it, you know?

So there ya go! 10 bookish things I want to or have quit!
What things would you want to quit? Let me know! :)

Have a nice day! :)

  1. Ahh, you write letters to authors? That's amazing! I always wanted to, but I can never scourge up the courage... Plus I don't have a clue where to start! I'm guilty of keeping books I don't like either. I keep thinking I'll like it...eventually...but it's been years and I still don't like those books. :/
Also, I nominated you an award! ^.^

    1. Yeah.. I’m trying XD
And that book-keeping habit is so annoying, right? It takes up space for nothing!
And thank you so much!!! C: I’ll get to it sometime soon (thursday probably)

  2. I know that many classics sound scary, because they might have archaic language, or be huge (like right now I'm reading Daniel Deronda which is 800 pages long). But some of my favourite books are classics, so give it a try! You can start with Jane Austen, what can beat a great romance?

    1. Hey! Meh, I’m not really scared of them, it’s just they’re not high on my priority list for some reason XD thanks for the advice though!

  3. I hate cracking the spine on paperbacks, and it's hard not to sometimes... always been a peeve. :)

    Great list!

    1. Hehe same, and it’s so true, sometimes the spines are really fragile /:

      Thank you! :)

  4. I particularly agree with numbers 1, 2, 3, and 6 ... except that for me, #3 refers to reading in French, rather than German. I'm just not good enough at it, though I try.

    1. Try easier books, like children’s books :)

  5. Alternately... don't feel like you have to read a book just because it's a classic :) My TTT

  6. #7 was on my list too! I would love to see more girl/guy friendships in books, rather than romance! You write letters to authors? That's so cool, I'd never be brave enough to do that!

    1. Yes! I would really like to see that more often! :D

Hey guys! I hope you enjoyed this post!
Any and all comments make me smile, and I will reply to all of them!
I can reply in English, French, and sometimes in Dutch and German.
Have an absolutely fabulous day! <3
