Hey! Just Another Bookish Talk

Just Another Bookish Talk

Including bookshelf talks, emails to authors, and re-read thoughts

Hey all!
So my dad and I actually talked a lot about books today, so I felt like doing a book talk with you guys! You can contribute your ideas by putting them in the comments!

~New bookshelf organisation~
Oh yeah! :D
The main part of my shelf didn’t change - all of my series are still beautifully packed together, different editions still awkwardly stick out.. .much is still the same.
BUT
My top two shelves were filled with both miscellaneous stand-alones and first books in series that I just never got to completing. Since no book went with another, I just took the time to organize them in color-order, from black to black (black, red, orange, yellow, green, silver, blue, purple, pink, white, grey, black). And now it’s so pretty! *-*

~I emailed an author, wish me luck!! ^_^~
Do you guys know Julie Bertagna? She wrote a book that I really like, Exodus. Her third book in the trilogy was advertised a LONG time ago, but I can’t find a place to buy it!
So I emailed her.
I felt like I could, because when I was in 7th grade, she came to my school in Luxembourg and did a book signing. (Like a 13-year-old idiot, I forgot my book at home ;_; )
Hopefully I’ll get an answer and a place to buy book 3 at! I did get it for my kindle but I’d love a paperback, cus the cover is pretty!
I also asked her if she would let me interview her for my blog! I’ll let you guys know how that plays out! :D I really hope it does!!

~Bookstagram~
I’ve actually been LOVING bookstagramming! It’s just hard to do because the lighting in my room is very meh, and the only time sunlight comes through my windows is early morning...

~Passenger~
I recently got Passenger, which is one of my most anticipated releases of the year! :D Hopefully I’ll get to it soon!

~Anticipated but never picked up?~
You guys know EXACTLY what I mean, I know you do. Basically, you wait for a book throughout the whole year, you get it, but you are too taken up in another series or genre to pick it up just yet. The, you have the book for months, and you still haven’t read it (cough TROUJLH cough). This also goes with ARCs from Netgalley. I went on a Netgalley splurge a few months back, and now I have a bunch of ARCs to read!

~Book hangovers~
Clockwork Princess, still...
That’s all I’m gonna say.

~Re-reads~
So. Re-reads.
I definitely want to organize another reading, like the Percy Jackson one Erica and I did in October! Maybe with Graceling? That could be nice :)

Anyway, re-reads are peculiar but awesome. You remember why you loved a certain book or series, and you get to pick up on stuff that you didn’t notice in your first read.

For example, I read the giver in 5th and 6th grade. Both of those times, I had never noticed that their world was essentially in black and white - they had no color. Then, the protagonist sees an apple change, ie. turn red. I only noticed that when I re-read it last year!

~Superintelligence~
So for my course at uni I had to read a book called Superintelligence, and I have to review it. But I can’t just review it like I would review a YA fiction book. I need an ‘angle of telling’, and I don’t get what that means ;-; I did ask about it, but I still don’t really get it. It’s a 2000 word review that needs to be handed in in a bit over a week. This should be interesting to write!

~Uni~
Real classes start again next week Monday. I will have less time to read, and hence will probably post less. I’m still here though! I’ll be taking Chemistry for the Future, which looks absolutely amazing, The Future of Literature, which looks intriguing, and Italian for my skills course. :)

Anyway, make sure to write down any reactions in the comments, I’d love to chat with you guys about this stuff!

Have a fabulous weekend!

  2. Bookish talks! :D
I love organising and reorganising my bookshelf- but they always have the same format - series together and miscellaneous books at the top and bottom shelf! I love how you organised the miscellaneous books in their colors - I've seen some beautiful pictures of that!
GOOD LUCK WITH THE AUTHOR! I hope that you find that physical copy and that you get an author interview!~
And yess, with Clockwork Princess, I had a huge book hangover after it- the ending was actually perfect in so many ways!
Loved how positive this post was <3

    1. IKR bookshelf organising can be so much fun! I like the way my shelves are now. However, I do have a lot of next books in a series to buy this year... that’s just going to mess up my organization again!
I’ll put a picture of my shelves sometime this week :)
Thanks so much!! I hope so too!
      Thanks so much Geraldine!
