TAGATHON!
#3 - Cover Guessing Challenge!
Tagged by Fiona! Thanks so much! Make sure to check out her blog!
The way this works is, you find books (typically well known) that you know little or nothing about and guess what they are about based on the cover and title. Let’s start with our first book…
1. Alive, by Scott Sigler Alive has a paranormal vibe to it - Maybe is it about a dystopian society where some sort of slavery is put in place, and this girl breaks free from it, even though it might cost everything she has, just to feel alive again.
Goodreads Blurb:
"A young woman awakes trapped in an enclosed space. She has no idea who she is or how she got there. With only her instincts to guide her, she escapes her own confinement—and finds she’s not alone. She frees the others in the room and leads them into a corridor filled with the remains of a war long past. The farther these survivors travel, the worse are the horrors they confront. And as they slowly come to understand what this prison is, they realize that the worst and strangest possibilities they could have imagined don’t even come close to the truth."
Prognosis: Well... at least I got the whole breaking free part right, right? Dystopian seems likely with this, as well as the dangers... I'll give myself a 50%
2. Infinity, by Sherrilyn Kenyon (cool name!)
This looks like a book that would be about some guy who can control magic, but only discovers it in his late teens. Then, the fate of the world is in his hands...
Goodreads blurb:
At fourteen, Nick Gautier thinks he knows everything about the world around him. Streetwise, tough and savvy, his quick sarcasm is the stuff of legends. . .until the night when his best friends try to kill him. Saved by a mysterious warrior who has more fighting skills than Chuck Norris, Nick is sucked into the realm of the Dark-Hunters: immortal vampire slayers who risk everything to save humanity.
Nick quickly learns that the human world is only a veil for a much larger and more dangerous one: a world where the captain of the football team is a werewolf and the girl he has a crush on goes out at night to stake the undead.
But before he can even learn the rules of this new world, his fellow students are turning into flesh eating zombies. And he's next on the menu.
As if starting high school isn't hard enough. . .now Nick has to hide his new friends from his mom, his chainsaw from the principal, and keep the zombies and the demon Simi from eating his brains, all without getting grounded or suspended. How in the world is he supposed to do that?
Prognosis: Sounds cool! Not too bad, i got the 'dragged into a world' part! Since I basically got the idea more or less, i'm going with 70%
3. Angel Star, by Jennifer Murgia
A girl finds out she's an Angel, an actually really dangerous creature towards humans. I think the star is an amulet of some sorts, for/with which she has to go on an adventure to save humanity, cus she's still a good person!
Goodreads blurb
Seventeen-year-old Teagan McNeel falls for captivating Garreth Adams and soon discovers that her crush has an eight-point star etched into the palm of his right hand-the mark of an angel. But where there is light, dark follows, and she and Garreth suddenly find themselves vulnerable to a dark angel's malicious plan that could threaten not only her life, but the lives of everyone she knows. Divinely woven together, Angel Star takes readers on a reflective journey when one angel's sacrifice collides with another angel's vicious ambition in a way that is sure to have readers searching for their own willpower.
Prognosis: wow nope! 40%
I'd love to see some of you do this!
Also, make sure to vote on the poll on the right! (system examples in a previous post!)
